Smoking thin cigarettes is cool and less harmful say teens

Cancer Research UK released these study results with the launch of its anti-smoking film on November 11. The film shows “how the tobacco industry encourages children to smoke.” The study results and film are part of a campaign in support of plain packaging for cigarettes in Scotland. “This important study reveals for the first time that adolescents associate slim and decorative cigarettes with glamour and coolness, rating them as a cleaner, milder and safer smoke. Suicide risk increases when vulnerable teens use internet forums

An analysis of 14 studies on internet use shows that the internet normalizes self-harm and provides graphic content about suicide, according to a study published in PLOS ONE on October 30.
